Manly Street Beach House, New Zealand, by Parsonson Architects

This is a beach house for a family of five. It was intended that the house create a story of passage from suburbia to the beach and the horizon beyond.

From the street the house appears as a slightly adhoc arrangement of separated forms, with fibre cement sheet boxes anchored to the ground and lighter forms floating around the side, leading to the beach.

Following my last post on here about big fish I though I should write something useful! I’ve been reading a lot of buzz lately, particularly in the affiliate space about Facebook advertising and getting the most out of the Facebook PPC channel. While facebook ads have got potential, its really early days. Facebook ads are cheap, but actually you can get free advertising on Facebook, which might be considerably more powerful than their PPC ads, with Facebook pages.

One Thing You Don’t Need To Be An Entrepreneur: A College Degree

We were in a board meeting today and the founder/CEO made a comment about a deal he’s working on and I said “well you learned that well in school.” He smiled and said, “we didn’t go to school” (meaning college). I didn’t actually know that, but it did not surprise me. I have learned that where someone went to college (or even if they didn’t go to college) has absolutely no correlation to whether they will be a good entrepreneur or not. I don’t pay attention to that part of a resume. I focus on what they’ve done in the work world, what they’ve shown they can do, and most importantly what they’ve done to date on that specific startup.
