With so little savings, a household with negative equity almost implies negative net worth. Walking away from the mortgage immediately repairs the balance sheet. Credit may be damaged, but homeowners can rebuild it. And by renting something they can afford, instead of the McMansion they cannot, homeowners are most likely to have some money left over each month that they can save toward a down payment on a house they can eventually afford.”

Why I don’t sign NDAs. . .

For those of you who have great ideas and want to share them with me I am happy to provide my advice, but please quit asking me to sign an NDA. Its one thing if I contact you and ask that you share confidential information with me, it is another thing if you call me asking for free advice. Literally, some people want me to enter into a contract with them without consideration, creating a potential liability for myself and my company. So, no I won’t sign an NDA, period.

The Difference Between Panic and Urgency

I received the following email earlier this week from an exec at a company that I am on the board of. He sent it out to his entire company. I thought it clearly described the different between panic and urgency and explains why – in a business context – panic is useless, but urgency is critical. I don’t think I could have said this better if I had tried.
